Will Graham is having a bad day. 

No, make that a bad life. 

His wife has been dead for six years, every date he goes on ends in disaster, his job gives him nightmares, and his daughter just wants too much attention. 

Which is why he doesn’t notice the book. 

Abby has so many books he doesn’t pay mind to her carrying one but when he hears her talking to herself at night he can’t help himself. 

She shows him the book and when he reads the words out loud it feels like an incantation. 

“Mister Lecter.” 

Abby smiles. “He’s my friend.” 

Will realizes too late he should’ve looked inside. 

When the noises, the warmth at his neck, and the shining eyes in the dark begin he thinks perhaps he’s going insane. 

Eventually he knows he is. 

Mister Lecter wants Will and he’ll do just about anything to get him.
