So there’s a Bottom Hannibal Day (August 9th), and was talking with some people and we thought, why not have Bottom Will Day and Flip Day too?

cause Bottom Hannibal Day was made when there was a lack of fics about that and apparently since there’s been a shift and personally I’d say there’ an equal amount-ish now but hey more never hurts of either or yanno? All configurations are good lets spoil ourselves lmao.

So here are suggested dates for those? (looking at @idontfindyouthatinteresting‘s list of Hannibal related dates to see when there isn’t anything going on)

Flip Day: October 9th

Bottom Will Day: December 9th

What d’y’all think? Would that be fun? I think that’d be fun~

Hey, I’m not opposed at all, but I feel like a couple things should be pointed out.  

There’s a lot more bottom!Will than the tag would suggest, because I’ve noticed that many people didn’t even bother to label bottom!Will as such until very recently, and sometimes still don’t.  Why?  Because no one’s ever had a problem with bottom!Will.  But everyone early on, and to this day, makes a point of labeling bottom!Hannibal, not just so people who like it can find it, but as a pre-emptive warning to anyone who as an issue with it.  

Bottom!Hannibal Day wasn’t a thing because there was a lack of fics–there’s always going to be popularity of things that go up and down, and things won’t always be even.  Your preferred thing might not have the most fics written, and that’s fine, that’s the way of things, and I don’t think anyone was complaining about lack of bottom!Hannibal in and of itself.  Bottom!Hannibal day came about because people were getting nasty comments on their fics and some people were making mean posts about its very existence.  To my knowledge, no one’s ever made a comment saying “ew, bottom!Will, that’s gross!” or “Anyone who thinks Will would ever bottom is an idiot!” 

So, yeah, go ahead, I’m always for more events–I might even participate (big fan of flipping myself!), but I just want to be clear that it’s not a matter of numbers but a matter of reaction, and since there were, and still are, people out there who actively oppose and belittle bottom!Hannibal, it’s not really the same as just bottom!Will being perceived as less popular at the moment since (to my knowledge) the reverse has never been an issue.

Yeah pretty much this, nicely put @crisisoninfintefandoms. Also a great point about the tags. Personally I don’t tag top/bottom in the tags at all for any character because I don’t see the relevance – if readers do and want it tagged, that’s their problem and can kindly jog on.

BHD came out of a really shitty time in the fandom where there were some pretty horrible heteronormative arguments over topping/bottoming that basically boiled down to Hannibal would only ever top – because Mads is manly and Hugh is the girl. Which… that isn’t how sex works between two men (spoiler: neither of them is the girl). 

So yeah, totally here for Flip day and will definitely participate, but not touching bottom Will as an event because it kinda negates the whole reason for BHD. 

As someone who’s actually gotten angry asks and comments for writing bottom Hannibal to the point where I no longer tag it at all I agree.

Isn’t everyday Bottom Will Day?

Bottom Hannibal discourse still rears it’s ugly head once every six months and no one’s ever been upset about them flipping either. I’m assuming because bottom Will is there to ease their horror.

Would definitely participate in Flip Day and of course Bottom Hannibal Day.
