Thanksgiving

Nigel had been chain smoking since eleven fifteen last night and Adam was growing more worried that closer it got for them to leave.

“We don’t have to go.”

He watched Nigel jerk out of his odd look as he’d stared into space and the smile Adam received was fake. Nigel didn’t smile like that when he was happy.

“Why wouldn’t we go?”

Adam squeezed his hands together and looked away. “You’re worried my father won’t approve of you and it’s upsetting me to see you scared of anything. I don’t like this.”

Nigel sighed and put out his cigarette before he walked across the apartment to pull Adam close. He smelled like cigarettes mixed with his ocean cologne, and Adam inhaled the scent.

“I’ve never been a parent’s pleasant surprise, you know? Your father has declined two other meetings before this and—“

“He was busy.”

Nigel kissed his forehead. “I know Darling, but it worries me nonetheless. I don’t want to fuck this up.”

Adam lifted his head and they stared into each other’s eyes.

“Even if Dad hates you, I love you so what does it matter?”

Nigel smiled, for real this time, and his voice was thicker when he spoke.

“I guess it doesn’t matter fuck all really. Approval was never something I longed for till you but just yours is,” he kissed Adam softly, “everything.”

Adam hugged him again and nuzzled at Nigel’s neck.

“I think he’ll like you. He’s always liked crime movies and when I told him you ran drugs and guns—“

Nigel tensed. “Star…tell me you didn’t tell your father I do illegal things for money.”

Adam lifted his head again.

“Harlan knows and he was okay with it, why wouldn’t I tell Dad?”

Nigel closed his eyes.

“Your friend Harlan called the police on me the day after you told him, Star. We had to explain privately the business and even now he barely tolerates me.”

“Oh.”

Nigel pressed their foreheads together.

“Do you think your father will wait till tomorrow or will the cops be there to greet us?”

“It’s Thanksgiving. Dad won’t ruin Thanksgiving.”

“If you say so, Star.”

The drive to his father’s condominium was a short one and Adam relished every second on the back of Nigel’s motorcycle. He knew his father wouldn’t like that either but Adam knew Dad would respect his choices.

He wasn’t a little boy anymore.

There was no policemen outside the condos or even inside. Dad glared a bit at Nigel after giving Adam a smile and the smell of turkey blocked out everything else.

They had an ok time after the initial handshake, and Nigel sat down with them to watch football though Adam didn’t care for it he liked that both of them did.

Dinner was cordial and it wasn’t till dessert that Dad turned the talk to Nigel’s work.

“Adam said you’re a runner.”

Nigel swallowed his wine and waited till the goblet was back on the table before he answered.

“Yes, Sir.”

“Dangerous shit you’re putting my only child in the crosshairs of.”

Nigel looked at Adam.

“No one would fuck with him to get to me. They know better.”

His father glared. “So you’re so tough no one would go against you? That’s reckless and stupid talk, Nigel. If my son—“

Nigel banged on the table and looked at his father head on.

“The last person who even LOOKED at Adam lost his left eye. They breathe his name I’d cut out their tongues. NO ONE will even acknowledge him.”

Adam had never seen his father afraid of someone before but he could tell Nigel scared him. He took Nigel’s hand.

“You can call the police all you want. Nigel is very good at stopping that. Please respect me and know I’m happy.”

His father sighed.

“Your mother has to be rolling in her grave right now, son. You’re smarter than this. It’s not safe. HE,” he pointed at Nigel, “is not safe.”

Adam stood up and so did Nigel.

“I don’t want safe, Dad. I want to be happy with someone who loves me. If you don’t want to be nice to Nigel then I guess we should go.”

His father looked between them.

“You’re serious.”

“Yes,” Adam nodded, “Nigel keeps me safe and we’re very happy. He loves me.”

Nigel squeezed his hand before he let go, and kissed Adam’s cheek.

“I’ll go, Star. You’re not the one who should leave.”

Nigel started for the door and grabbed his coat but Adam followed. He grabbed his hand and Nigel stopped to look at him.

“No, I’m not going to stay. Let’s go home.”

Nigel reached out to touch his cheek and his smile was real but sad.

“I fuck everything up, darling. I’m not going to fuck to this. It’s fine.”

He kissed Adam softly and his hand shook where it touched the back of Adam’s neck before they stopped.

Nigel then left without a word.

Adam felt his anger rise up and didn’t look at his father.

“Son.”

“I know Nigel does bad things but I don’t care.”

“I know, son. You should care.”

Adam turned and his vision blurred a bit from tears. “Did you care about everything Mom ever did? She used to sneak cigarettes and not tell you. We ate secret sundaes at McDonald’s once a week that we never let you come to. We—“

“Adam this isn’t the same.”

Adam grabbed his coat and started to put it on.

“I’m not stupid! I know that. But Nigel is Nigel and I love Nigel no matter what you do. So Thanksgiving is over now and you’re the one who ruined it. Goodbye.”

He ignored his father’s protests and headed outside though he didn’t expect Nigel to be there still he was anyway, astride his bike and taking a long drag.

“Thanksgiving is over.”

The air was cold and Adam liked the pink of Nigel’s cheeks when he looked at him.

“Adam, darling go back inside.”

Adam stomped over to the bike and climbed behind him.

“Let’s go home.”

Nigel tossed away his cigarette and Adam could see it was more than halfway done. He reached back and brought Adam’s hand to his lips.

“You forgot your gloves.”

“I don’t want to go back. Please, Nigel.”

Nigel kissed his hand again.

“We’ll go get sundaes if you’d like?”

Adam pressed his face into Nigel’s back and nodded. He stared at his father’s building and knew he wouldn’t come out to stop them.

It was okay.

They could always try again on Christmas.

Fortune Cookie

‘Your natural charm will attract someone special.’

Elias stared at the paper in his hands for a long time before he realized what it was he held.

A fortune.

He’d never been one for Chinese food, the spicy strangeness not to his taste despite the times he’d stopped by Gabriel’s apartment when he had ordered some and had a few bites. The cookies though he did like, their sweet taste and often sweeter words inside a delight.

This fortune though was strange and not because Elias sat in the middle of a park where no fortune cookies were sold.

The paper was gold.

He ran his fingers over the thickness of it, almost otherworldly, and put the strange thing in his pocket to continue the reason he’d come.

The man.

Elias had first seen him the month before lying down in the grass and taking in the sun with very little on. The sight of such a thing in the middle of the chillier weather had struck him but when the man kept on he’d started to become more than fascinated.

He was aroused.

A man had never aroused him before despite his condition and this made him very interested in why this particular one did. Which was why Elias sat across from where the man in question sat as he had for the last four weeks to watch the now fully clothed man while he wrote in a tiny notebook. He wondered if the man was a writer of a sort, or perhaps a detective. Maybe he was there on some sort of police operation?

Elias felt a stir in his cock when the man licked his lips, then lifted his finger up to trace them with his finger. He smiled and Elias bit his lip to keep quiet.

He didn’t notice someone sit down beside him until they spoke.

“Hello.”

The man beside him wore a very large coat, almost too large for his body, and really too warm for the weather. “Hello.”

He followed Elias’s line of vision. “Do you know him?”

“No,” he mumbled and looked away, taking out his phone.

“Then why are you staring?”

Elias blushed and mumbled, “I wasn’t staring.”

“Yes, you were. I saw you just now.”

“I was looking at the birds.”

“There are no…”

He stood up to yell, “WOULD YOU LEAVE ME ALONE?” and stomped off in tears.

There seemed to be several people staring but he continued on as if they weren’t. He so blindly rushed that when he ran into someone the impact was hard, knocking the man to the sidewalk.

“What the fuck?”

The man had been smoking and Elias could tell he’d been burned.

“You should pay attention when you’re—“

The man stood up and grabbed him hard to snarl, “What the fuck are you trying to say to me, you fucking—“

Elias spat, “Pay attention when you walk! This is a public park!”

The first punch was painful, harder than he’d ever been hit his entire life, and Elias almost fell over when the man let go only to push him.

“I’m going to kill you, asshole,” the man said, just as a voice cut through their fight.

“Nigel are you hurt?”

Elias turned to see the man from the bench stood behind him. “Do you not listen to people when they talk? I told you to LEAVE ME ALONE!”

There was a roar just before he was attacked even more viciously and thrown to the the sidewalk. The pain of his head as it hit the hard ground was nothing compared to seeing the man, his beautiful man, notice him for the first time.

He could barely keep his eyes open as everything faded to black.

When he woke Elias was in the hospital, bandaged and very sore after having been worked on by what Elias assumed were terrible doctors to allow him to remain in pain. He reached over to touch the button for the nurse when someone spoke.

“Sleeping Beauty is awake.”

He tensed. “You’re here too?”

The curtain that separated the two beds was pulled back and Elias saw the coat man stood there while in the bed behind him was the man with the cigarette.

“Nigel got hurt badly by the policemen and also by the man you were staring at.”

Elias blinked. “He hit you?”

Nigel laughed and rubbed at his eye. “Apparently I ruined his covert fucking operation or some shit. I have no idea. But Adam told him you had a crush on him so there’s that.”

Elias paled. “I DO NOT!”

Adam walked over and set something on the table beside him.

It was the fortune.

“He found this after they dragged you away in the ambulance and knew it was yours. I think he likes you too? He started calling Nigel all sorts of words and I didn’t understand most of them over his accent but yes.”

Elias felt tears in his eyes.

“You should not have lied to him. I have no feelings about him whatsoever.”

The rude man in the coat, apparently Adam, blinked. “Oh, then I’ll go tell him to go home.”

He started to leave and Elias called out, “Wait!”

Nigel sighed, “Fuck darling, please tell him the rest of this shit so we can go home and then the cops can come in. I don’t fancy being arrested.”

Adam walked over and sat down beside his bed. “The man, his name is Adam too which is strange because—“

“Darling, please.”

Elias reached out and took the fortune. “How did he know this belonged to me?”

“He put it on the bench. Did you know he’s seen you naked?”

Elias nearly fell off the bed and Nigel started laughing. “Jesus Christ, I’m in hell. Okay listen, asshole. The pretty little Brit in the hall knows you stare at him in the park. Hell he said he followed you out once and caught you jerking off after but you have a big cock so he’s interested now? I for one doubt it can be that big but—“

Elias’s face was bright red now and he was torn between feeling flattered and angry. How dare that British Adam make a fool of him this way? He had only been looking it wasn’t a crime and he didn’t think he should be punished for admiring.

“…and I think you should be listening because Adam just went to get him.”

“What?”

Nigel pressed the nurse button. “Enough of this shit. NURSE!”

Elias stood up and immediately realized he should not have moved at all even though he needed to close the curtain. He moved about three steps before he fell which was when the two Adams entered the room.

British Adam smiled at him.

“Hello there.”

“Elias this is Adam, Adam this is Elias.”

Elias mumbled, a bit fuzzy, “How do you know my name?”

He didn’t hear a reply though the pretty Adam leaned down and helped him up, his strength a surprise. “You are very athletic.”

Adam laughed. “Oh darling, you have no idea.”

Later, Elias learned just how athletic Adam was.

Also he introduced Nigel to pipe smoking.

Albireo

Nigel knew everyone in his building by the feelings they brought out in him.

There was Mr. Jones, old and struggling, who made him feel pity and help the man every time they crossed paths. The first time he’d carried the old man’s bags up to his apartment and even put away the food despite the asshole cursing him out every second he was in the place.

Tabitha made him miss home, specifically Gabi, her red hair a distraction when they first met in the laundry when the fucking machine ate her quarters. He’d given her his and listened to a story about her college professor being an asshole when about the essay she’d written about the industrial revolution. Gabi had fucking loved history, filled their place with obscure books that Nigel kept even after she’d moved out but burned the night he got back from the hospital with images of that greasy bastard Charlie in his head.

Then there was Adam.

Adam made him feel different.

Adam seemed to think Nigel was a hit man, which wasn’t too far from the truth really and still invited him over to view the stars because they’d met when Nigel was drunk singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” on the roof as he stared up at them. Adam had gone up there with his telescope and asked him to stop a number of times until he realized there was little use. He’d coaxed the music out of him and got Nigel to look at stars quietly instead which started a weekly tradition that Nigel couldn’t shake.

“Did you kill anyone today?”

Nigel laughed as he put his eye over the fucking lookie hole or whatever the fuck it was.

“No, Star. I didn’t kill anyone. Today was a non-killing day. Did YOU kill anyone?”

“I’ve never killed anyone, but I know you have. You told me.”

Nigel had much to his stupidity in hopes to scare him away. Adam was not easily scared.

“I haven’t killed anyone in months,” he confessed, “Darko thinks I’m too high strung.”

Adam played with the telescope. “Do you see the bright ones at the top?”

“Yes. Important somehow?”

“It’s a double star. Albireo.”

Nigel stared at the two stars, one a bit brighter than the other. “A double star?”

“Stars are sometimes gravitationally bound to each other and form a binary system.”

Nigel felt Adam’s breath on his earlobe and shivered. “So they don’t want to be apart.”

“No, it’s not that they don’t want to. They’re stars. They just can’t.”

He turned and Adam was still quite close. “I learn something new every week with you, Star.”

Adam smiled. “Me too. Last week you told me how to break someone’s hand in four places, remember?”

Nigel suddenly couldn’t help but kiss him, a soft touch of lips that made Adam freeze and not reciprocate. He felt like an asshole and pulled back, not saying a fucking word.

What the fuck was that?

He got to the door as Adam called out, “Nigel, stop,” and turned to see him with fingers on his lips and a puzzled expression.

“Darling, I just need to step away it’ll be fine.”

Adam walked over and stopped right in front of him.

“You’re attracted to me?”

Nigel sighed. “Darling it’s fine, just—“

“You should tell someone when you’re attracted to them. It’s very confusing not to.”

Nigel smiled. “I will take that under advisement. Though I wouldn’t just say it that way, Star. It’s more like…what did you call them? Double Stars?”

Adam nodded. “Yes. Gravitationally bound to each other.”

Nigel touched his cheek and Adam leaned in to his hand. “I like that explanation much more. I’m,” he caressed down Adam’s cheek, “Gravitationally bound to you. You make me feel whole.”

“You can kiss me again. If you want to.”

Nigel gently pulled him in and this kiss was so much better, the soft shiver of Adam’s lips against his and the taste of him that made Nigel hungry for more.

His Star.

He was happy to finally figured out just what Adam made him feel.

Whole.

Spacedogs – “Our first time together, I couldn’t stop staring”

 > PATREON<     >Take me out for coffee!<

They shared things.

Nigel didn’t understand the meaning of the word share till Adam told him the first time he’d seen his father cry and wanted to fall in love like he had. He’d watched the way Adam’s hands shook as he fidgeted and didn’t meet Nigel’s eyes as he spoke.

“She died on a Monday and I thought about it for seven days before I told him how much I missed her. He cried again and we watched her favorite movie.“

Nigel had fought for what to say and settled on the truth.

“I killed my fucking Dad. My mother let them take me away even though I was just a little thing. You know? She loved that asshole still.”

Adam had wiped his eyes and smiled.

“I love you.”

Nigel left marks on his hips that night. Deep grooves that were almost bruises by morning and he kissed every fucking one.

They shared experiences he would’ve never done with Gabi. Like the planetarium. He wouldn’t have been caught dead at a goddamn museum but with Adam he wanted to share the time.

It took an awful long time for them to do dick in ass stuff. Nigel hadn’t stopped himself from touching Adam all over since the first time Adam smiled his way but actual anal sex was something else. He struggled with his inner self that wanted to fight his to keep his heterosexual image till one day after he’d jerked Adam off for what was now nearing triple digits, Adam asked him about it.

“Are we never going to have anal sex?”

Nigel smiled. “Darling, aren’t you—“

“I’m perfectly ok with not as I’ve enjoyed multiple orgasms with vibrators. I was just wondering.”

Truth be told Nigel got horribly jealous for a solid week after that when Adam would leave his place just imagining his usage of the vibrator.

So they fucked.

And Nigel never looked away.

Not once.

Adam’s expressions and exclamations were the hottest damn thing he’d ever seen before and fuck that vibrator because Nigel would be the only one inside his ass from then on.

And Adam loved to get fucked.

He rode Nigel’s cock with so much enthusiasm Nigel struggled to hold his cum long every time.

“Fuck I love you.”

He said it the first time as Adam collapsed on his chest and they didn’t talk about it for days.

They talked about things completely unrelated like Nigel’s favorite scent and the best thing he’d ever eaten.

Both Adam related of course.

But they didn’t talk about that.

He finally said it again two weeks later and Adam rolled onto his back to smile at Nigel.

“I fucking love you too.”

Nigel had bitten a collar of marks around his neck that night and Adam blatantly wore them uncovered to work the next day.

They shared bad things too.

Like tempers.

Adam had one of the worst tempers of anyone Nigel knew when he got unsettled, and Nigel was the only one who knew how to calm him down.

Darko thought it was cute, called him “Adam Whisperer” but truth be told Nigel moved heaven and earth so Adam rarely released anger on anyone.

Schedules were kept or he called hours ahead if they wouldn’t be just so Adam could adjust.

Nigel’s temper was far more volatile of course but he kept it to himself. Adam didn’t deserve his anger so he’d leave if they fought after Adam fell asleep.

And he started to do the oddest thing.

He called Gabi.

She always answered, tired and kind of amused. He’d tell her what happened and she let him throw curses till he calmed down.

“You shouldn’t hide, Nigel.”

Nigel couldn’t not.

Adam didn’t deserve his shit.

Of course, even his assumptions about Adam he eventually shared too.

Almost all were wrong.

Though Adam was the jealous type as evidenced when months into their relationship he found out Nigel was calling Gabi twice a month.

Sharing a life meant sharing everything.

At least that’s what he learned.

So everyday he shared just a little bit more.
