XII. The Hanged Man

“I am in this position because I want to. I have this sensation of eternally falling toward myself. I cross through pain to discover the strength of sacrifice. Little by little, I undo everything in me that could be called “me”. I own nothing, I know nothing, I want nothing, I can do nothing.

However, the entire universe passes through me, filling me with its whirlwinds before leaving. I am the infinite sky that lets the clouds pass by. I am nothing more than the beat of a heart that propels beauty toward the borders of creation. I become the peaceful gentleness in pain, the ceaseless gratitude, the door that leads victims to ecstasy, the sloping path on which we slide toward the heights, the living light that circulates in the darkness of blood.“

Finally, The Hanged Man is here! I have always loved this particular Arcanum: this card represents a moment of suspension that can be turned to our advantage to refine our plans. It can also refer to a block or an inability to take action; it often indicates that the time is not right for making a decision. It can also symbolize self-punishment, illness, sacrifice, gift of oneself and tendency to be manipulated. I chose to draw Will Graham in this card, hanged as in Digestivo, seventh episode from @nbchannibal Season 3. Hope you like it!

Moving on

Inspired by season 2 Will being forced to put the sickness and sorrow Hannibal caused behind him in order to try to catch him. I had this vague idea of Will yanking his memories out and winding them all around a reel, storing them away along with his heart – which is why the film is all jumbled numbers in the style of his encephalitis clock.
